Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

When can I expect my Book after I pay for it?

We apologize for any inconvenience our credit-card-fraud prevention and other payment-default prevention methods incur. Regardless of the payment method you use, we allow adequate time to ensure buyer legitamacy and payment validity prior to shipping our products.

We ship as soon as your payment is confirmed valid. Depending which form of payment you use, our payment-verification period varies, and the following are typical validation times:

  • PayPal: immediately upon PayPal Verification — for established PayPal users, this usually means same day. For new PayPal users, there may be a couple day delay as you complete your PayPal setup.
  • Credit-Card: 1-2 days for Visa, Discover, Mastercard, American Express.
  • Cash: Immediate - but only in person, so really unlikely payment method.
  • Checks / Money-Orders / Bank-Checks: Sorry, we no longer accept checks of any kind.
Within the USA, standard USPS shipping should take approximately 3-6 business days from the date we ship your book(s).
International/Foreign orders are sent by USPS Global Priority Mail whenever possiblel and will arrive typically within one week (most major countries in the world - send us Email if your location is unusual or remote).

Do you charge Sales Tax?

SureTalent Books is located in the State of Ohio (Columbiana County). Thus, for shipments/sales to locations within Ohio, we are legally obligated to collect Sales Tax. For those of you inside Ohio, the sales tax rate is currently 7.00%. In addition, our tax-crazed Ohio lawmakers have expanded sales tax to include Shipping and Handling charges! (Sorry. Please feel free to call your Ohio State representative or senator to complain.)

If a purchase is delivered to a location outside Ohio, there is no sales tax.

How do you handle Customs and Currency Conversion for Foreign Orders

SureTalent Books ships all over the world. But, it is simply impossible for us to know the customs process in every country. We suggest asking your local post office if you're not sure yourself, and letting us know what information to place on customs form.

You are responsible for any customs taxes. But, from experience, countries like the UK and Australia do not impose any duties on our book if you import one.

Currency conversion should not be an issue if you are paying by Visa or any other electronic method that automatically converts from our US Dollar (USD) prices to your local currency at time of order.

Why are there Limited Quantities?

Some persons have asked about the limited-quantity of gluten free recipe books we have available. This is not just a marketing ploy; it has to do with how many books we have contracted to print in the first batch (due in late November of 2006), and how they are to be distributed.

We contracted to print an initial run of only 2000 books. Of those, roughly 10% are currently allocated to friends and family of the Author, and another 25% are going to retail specialty and health stores (that cater to Celiac and wheat-free individuals) that have agreed to resell our books to their clientele. This leaves us with a limited number of recipe books available for direct sale on this website.

Are these Print-On-Demand (POD) Books? NO.

No, we are not using print on demand technology for our gluten free recipe books, since, that technology is mainly targeted at black-and-white books that just have a color-cover (like most other GF recipe books), whereas our books are all full-color throughout. Even if anyone could provide full-color POD, the cost-per-book would be exorbitant. So, we have contracted with a major color-printing facility that uses state of the art printing presses and binding equipment to produce our gluten free recipe books.

The result is a book of recipes that will look wonderful in your kitchen or on your coffee table or end table — just like any high-quality color cookbook or food book you would see at your favorite bookstore. The downside to not having POD available as an option is that we must contract to print a set quantity of books in advance, and there is roughly a 2-month turnaround time to have our gluten free recipe books printed and shipped to us once we place an order.

How do your book prices compare to others?

This is a difficult comparison to make. Our books employ full color photography throughout (of each recipe), and are printed on high quality heavy paper. This sets a new standard for books featuring gluten-free recipes, since most (if not all) other gluten free books are black and white (with a color cover, and perhaps a few color insert pages).

And, if the color recipe pictures throughout our gluten free recipe books were not enough of a difference, our money back satisfaction guarantee surely makes a direct comparison even more difficult.

The bottom line is you are getting unique high-quality recipe books that may well be slightly more than some other books. But, the books are well worth it if you will be living gluten free for many years to come. A few batches of cookies, or a cake or two, and the book has paid for itself!

Why is your book not at Amazon, Borders, etc?

Simply put, after the cut that retailers demand to sell our books, we would lose money. Most major book retailers take 50-60% of the retail price of the book. This would not be an issue if we would have went with inexpensive black and white content like most of our "competition", but we wanted to really show definite full color visual proof of what our gluten free recipes create, and also offer a money back satisfaction guarantee to anyone purchasing our books.
